Nhyira Charities Foundation Provides Support to Dawu R/C Basic School


On 23rd July,2025, Nhyira Charities Foundation (NCF) undertook a significant outreach initiative at Dawu R/C Basic School as part of its mission to promote education and child welfare in underserved communities. The event was marked by a generous donation of educational and personal items to support pupils and improve their academic experience, alongside the official launch of the NCF Literacy Club aimed at enhancing reading and learning culture among the students. This was the beginning of Nhyira Charities Foundation, a 5-year Build the Future with Education Project.

As part of the outreach, the Foundation donated the following items to the school:
• 500 exercise books
• 100 sets of school uniforms
• 200 pairs of shoes

These items were distributed to selected pupils in need, as identified by the school headteacher, Mr.Amanfo, to encourage school attendance and reduce the financial burden on parents.

A key highlight of the day was the launch of the Nhyira Charities Foundation Literacy Club. The club is a long-term initiative by the Foundation to foster literacy development, cultivate a passion for reading, and improve academic performance among pupils. The club will be operated in collaboration with the school’s administration and will be supported with reading materials, mentorship, and regular literacy activities. Mrs Ernestina Ampadu and Mr Prempeh Godfred are the National Coordinators for this Club.

The occasion was graced by several dignitaries and community leaders who commended the Foundation’s impactful work. Notable among them were:
• Hon. Amoh Twumasi – Municipal Chief Executive, who praised the Foundation’s efforts and encouraged community support for education.
• Nana Dawuhene, who expressed his gratitude and pledged traditional support for the Literacy Club.
• Hon. Takyi Bernard – Former Assemblyman, who highlighted the importance of such interventions for rural education.
• Municipal Education Director representing the Ghana Education Service, He emphasized the role of literacy in national development and promised GES support for the initiative.

The program was a resounding success and left a lasting impression on the students, teachers, and the entire Dawu community. Nhyira Charities Foundation remains committed to promoting literacy, education, and the general welfare of children in Ghana. The Foundation extends sincere appreciation to all donors, volunteers, and stakeholders who made this initiative possible. National Lottery Authority Good Causes Foundation and EPP books were the headline Sponsors for this project.
